Normally I would write a post about all the wonderful things I’m thankful for this year.
But honestly, 2025 was brutal.
Two injuries to my right leg thwarted my plans for
my martial arts and growing my coaching business.
Still, I was able to turn 💩 into fertilizer,
so I’m grateful for that.
🥋 My Martial Arts
Barely able to walk, I haven’t been able to do any fighting since March.
I have been able to do kata (forms),
but only at “Slow Tai Chi Speed.”
Sometimes, even slower than that.
I settle into a stance,
and I try feeling every single thing my Sensei has ever described I should be feeling.
It’s paying off!
Recently, my Sensei said
I have the best presence of mind of anyone he has ever taught.
💻 My Coaching Business
I was able to take care of my clients,
but I couldn’t get out there and grow my business the way I wanted to.
But while sidelined, I have been studying:
🔸 Neuroscience of Flow State
🔸 Ancient leadership philosophy
🔸 Biographies of reluctant yet successful leaders
These are already enhancing my coaching and my writing.
📅 2025 has forced:
💠 Slowness
💠 Depth
💠 Presence
💠 Clarity
In 2026 this will benefit me because
➡️ Slow makes smooth. Smooth makes fast.
This is true not only in my martial arts,
but also in my coaching and writing.
Slowing down and studying
transforms into speed of insight.
It’s still ongoing.
I have another month until I’m healed.
Then I’ll work on regaining my strength and conditioning.
And I am so looking forward to that!
❓ How has your 2025 been?
🗨️ What are you thankful for?
If this post landed for you, I’d be honored by your support.
