Hey! Guess what?
I’m going to be a guest on a podcast!
My topic of conversation will be:
“How to keep training through chaos—when your life and/or your body is falling apart.”
Unfortunately, I have way too much experience doing this.
Even more unfortunately, I have way too much experience not doing this before I knew what I know now.
Right after my husband and I closed our restaurant, I suffered ruptured disks in my neck. And my black belt test was just months away.
Training for my black belt test while rehabbing a neck injury was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done, and also one of my greatest joys.
The thing that made it work was everyone on my medical team agreed that my best rehab was training for my test.
It's a bizarre blessing that the thing I wanted to do most, train for my test, was the very thing that kept the pain at bay.
Resilience is not a personality trait, it’s a trainable practice.
This framing removes the shame from burnout. In ADHD leaders it often shows up first as loss of strategic clarity, not loss of motivation.
You remove, “Why can’t I handle this?”
And replace it with, “What is taking me offline? And what will bring me back?”
I’ll be exploring these and other questions in the upcoming podcast episode, and also in future posts.
