Yesterday I went to the book launch for “Leadership Uncomplicated” by Bryan Banta, who is also my friend and former Aikido Sensei.
When he first told me he was writing the book I was excited, because having been his student for so long I’m very familiar with his leadership style. This is exactly the kind of leadership that the world needs right now: timelessly wise and lived. In addition to being a martial art instructor, he has also worked for decades in leadership development and human resources.
The launch party became an Aikido reunion. I was pointing out to someone all the martial artists in the room including:
🥋 Bryan’s two adult children who practiced Aikido.
🥋 Alejandro Sensei, 4th degree black belt in Aikido.
🥋 George, who I trained with in Aikido, Okinawan Kobudo, and also two different styles of Tai Chi.
🥋 Then Eva walked into the room. You may remember her from Monday’s post as my friend who recently summited Mt Everest. She’s also a 6th degree black belt in Shotokan karate.
I said, “This is now the safest room in town.”
Toward the end of the event, I talked with the CEO of the publishing company. I praised the book for being so well laid out for people with ADHD and asked if that was intentional.
She said it was. She said she recognized Bryan’s style was very ADHD friendly, so they leaned into that.
I told her that I recommended it to one of my clients in Europe who bought it, which makes Bryan an international selling author!
“Leadership Uncomplicated” is both extremely practical and aspirational. I’ll share my review soon.
