 Got MMR Vaccine

May 31, 20251 min read

MMR Vaccine? Got it.
I got my MMR shot today—and here’s why:

👶 Born in the '60s or '70s?
You might not be fully protected against measles.
Many of us only got one measles vaccine—before the MMR combo became standard.

🧪 I checked.
👩‍🦳 My mom confirmed I only had one dose.
🥼 My doctor ordered a measles (rubeola) titer—a blood test that checks for antibodies.

📉 Result: Not fully protected.
💉 Solution: Got my MMR today. Quick. Easy. Free.

📍 Why now?
💠 Measles outbreaks have been reported in over 30 states.
💠 A measles-infectious tourist recently passed through a nearby town.
💠 Measles spreads before symptoms appear.
💠 No confirmed cases in my state yet—but why wait?

(When I checked in at the clinic and gave my birth year, I said, “That’s why I need the MMR.”
The receptionist said, “Smart.”
💁‍♀️)

🗣️ PSA:
If you were born before 1994, check your vaccine records.
Call your doctor. Ask about a measles titer or the MMR shot.

🧬 Got my MMR today.
Because I like science.
And not suffering through a disease we eliminated here in 2000.
