ADHD Leaders Sense Patterns

August 12, 20251 min read

🚫 The only job I was ever fired from,
one of the reasons cited was that I wasn’t a team player.
They saw my pattern recognition as me not being on the same page,
not as an asset.

🎉 The following business day,
a manager from another company in the same field called me saying:

“I heard you were fired, and I heard why.
And that’s exactly why I want to hire you.”

➡️ Some people will recognize your talents.

🍽️ Later, when I owned my restaurant with my husband,
everything depended on pattern recognition and prediction:

• Flow of the kitchen
• Timing of the floor
• Staff moods
• Guest expectations
• Supply chains
• Weather patterns

And when our staff showed greater pattern recognition than my own,
➡️ we promoted them.

The world is full of managers trying to control systems.
ADHD leaders sense patterns and know when a system needs to shift.

🧠 ADHD pattern recognition can help you:
• Manage team dynamics
• Juggle multiple moving pieces
• Notice when something is “off” before it’s measurable
• Make sense of what others call “vibes” or “gut instincts”
• Anticipate problems—and possibilities—before they’re obvious

How does your pattern recognition enhance your leadership?
